Dear Editors:

We were saddened and alarmed by your March 8 article “Area 
activists decry gay marriage.”  It is ridiculous for anyone 
to work to remove legal protection from families in the name 
of strengthening them and to work to take away other people’s 
civil rights while claiming “this is not a political agenda.  
This is God's agenda.”  However, it is especially horrendous for 
such behavior to be conducted by people who claim to be religious 
and moral leaders in their community.
