February 17, 2004 Denver Post 1560 Broadway Denver, CO 80202 Dear Editors: While we greatly appreciate your editorial stance against the Federal Marriage Amendment, and your recognition that the language of the amendment is almost incomprehensible, we must object, again, to your contention that the sensibilities of people of faith who believe in a gender-based definition of religious marriage are more important than the sensibilities of people of faith who recognize that marriage is not inherently gender-specific, and even worse, that their sensibilities are more important than the legal recognition of the inherent equality of the lives, loves, and families of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Sincerely, Barbara Lamond Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators
