Dear Editors:

Contrary to the comments by the Rev. James Roberts in your February 9 marriage article, 
equal marriage rights for same-gender couples are favored by religious organizations, 
congregations and clergy from a wide variety of faith traditions, and not just by 
politicians.  There are many people of faith in this country who do not identify as 
Christian, there are many different varieties of Christians, and there are many 
individual Christians who on this issue and probably several others do not agree with 
Rev. Roberts or his interpretation of the Bible.
