April 24, 2004 Zanesville Times Recorder 34 S. 4th St. Zanesville, OH 43701 Dear Editors: Your April 19 article about marriage, gender, sexual orientation and religion gave the unfortunate impression that Christians in particular and religious people in general are anti-gay. While we cannot speak with any authority on religious diversity in Zanesville, there are religious organizations, congregations and clergy in a wide variety of faith traditions all across the country who believe that gender has no bearing on the ethicality or morality of relationships, and who work for the equal rights and legal protection of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their families. Sincerely, Barbara Lamond Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators
